Camp 2002 Highlights
Dr. Al Snyder was the special entertainer on
Wednesday night. Dr. Snyder put on a very entertaining show, and had
everyone rolling laughing.
Dr, Snyder was first drawn to hypnotic practices when a hypnotist came to camp while Dr. Snyder was running the camp. He was also drawn to it because his schooling. He studied psychology and education as undergraduates in college.
Once Dr.
Snyder became interested in hypnosis, he traveled with a professional
for two years. Dr. Snyder attended many seminars and classes in order to
become a hypnotist.
Now that he had made a career of being a hypnotist, he does 60-80
shows a year, traveling to 20-30 different states. He says that the best
part of this profession is making people laugh. He also enjoys
discovering how the human mind works and reacts. However, Dr. Snyder
admitted there are drawbacks to this fun and exciting job. He said that
traveling since September 11th was hard. Dr. Snyder also said
that he wished there was a way to test people’s reactions to the new
acts he tries.
We would also like to express a heart-filled thank you to Dr. Snyder for the inspiring speech that he gave us as a guest speaker on Wednesday afternoon. His dedication to this camp and the kinds ways of his life had made Dr. Snyder someone to truly admire and respect. We can’t wait for him to come back again.
