Road Report: As of today (June 2, 2008) , we have been notified
that because of excess snowfall in the mountains this year, the Farson
Route won’t be open (route that we have used the last couple of years)
tell July. This means we
will be forced to use the Sinks Canyon route, which happens to be the
shorter route for most people.
However, because of the construction on that route (and why we
have been using the alternate route the last two years) expect long
delays bringing members up to camp and back down.
We are expecting to have to open a gate at the bottom that will
be locked to let people up. So for 2008 use the Sinks Canyon Route, (follow the
signs in downtown Lander if you are not familiar with the route or se
below. Should the gates be
locked at the start of the dirt road on your way up, please call my cell
and we will get someone down to let you in.
We will try and run shifts to let people up on registration day.
The construction crew may not be working on the weekend when you
pick members up, but the gate will be locked.
Please drive a four-wheel drive vehicle just in case.
Feel free to call my cell for a road report on the day of
registration.
Please be careful, slow down, click-it-or-ticket Directions to Camp: **Sinks Canyon Route** (used in 2008)

At the junction, continue on Hwy 28 towards South Pass/Farson. Stay on Hwy 28 for approximately 22 miles until you come to the Louis Lake Road turnoff. When you see the turnoff to Atlantic City (it will be on your left), you are getting close. The Louis Lake Road turnoff is approx 3.4 miles past Atlantic City Road. The turnoff for Louis Lake Road will be on the right side of the highway. Turn right onto the Louis Lake road (very rough gravel road) and stay on this road for approximately 17 miles (you will drive past Louis Lake). Eventually, you will reach an intersection of dirt roads and a sign indicating you should take a left to get to the Fremont County Youth Camp. You will see the entrance to the camp shortly after taking the left hand turn.
